HEALTHCARE SERVICES TO LOCALS

In support of improving access to quality healthcare for children living in small rural communities, a mobile clinic has provided over 11 000 primary healthcare services to schools across Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipal areas. This is aligned to Zeerust Solar’s community support, in partnership with the District Department of Health, which has successfully delivered healthcare services to 33 local schools, in nine local communities.

This community healthcare programme has furthermore been instrumental in creating employment opportunities for the youth in the area. The creation of four full-time employment opportunities, and an additional four part-time positions at the head office, for locals to work on the project make the initiative even more impactful on a local level.

“Our fully equipped mobile clinics provide learners and community members with free primary healthcare, dental and vision screenings, offering a turnkey solution that ensures inclusive health assessment and development,” explained Tshepo Kgoloane, Community Operations Manager for Zeerust Solar, which funds this initiative as part of its Integrated School Healthcare programme.

In addition to delivering free and accessible healthcare to locals, the mobile health clinic also provides health education; administering of medication; as well as follow-ups and referrals.

“The mobile health clinic makes it easy for the learners, as well community members, to receive assistance without having to travel long distances to the local clinic. As a result, this will enhance the livelihoods of the community members,” added Kgoloane.

In conclusion, Mr Titus Ramadie, from the Department of Education in Ngaka Modiri Molema District, in the North West Province, commented, “We are very thankful to have had the opportunity to be part of such an amazing programme. The programme is particularly vital for our children because it helps remove health barriers that hinder their learning.”
